At last it looks like spring is here! At Zandwijk, home of Kleine Draken kosher wines, the oak trees are budding and so are the vines. After a long wet winter we are very excited about the 2009 harvest. Although it is still early times our non-irrigated Cabernet Sauvignon grapes should benefit from the higher water table.
We are very happy to announce that our Kleine Draken 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon received a silver medal at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards this year. The wine was blended and bottled in June 2008. It is a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon that spend 18 months in new and 2nd fill barrels.
Look out for the Kleine Draken 2008 Sauvignon Blanc. It was released a little while back and the feedback is very positive. Jean van Rooyen, new winemaker at Zandwijk Wines, is very happy with the first kosher Sauvignon Blanc that he has produced!
Sales for 2008 have been very good and we would like to thank all our clients and customers who have been supporting us. We strive to produce top quality wines at competitive prices.
